The Rolex Daytona references 6263 and 6265 are one of the most iconic models in the history of the brand. Introduced in 1969, they was part of the first generation of the Daytona line featuring the so-called "push-button" chronograph. The 6263 and 6265 are notable for its bezel, which were made either of steel or of black acrylic, and marked with a tachymeter scale, allowing users to measure speed over a known distance. They were powered by the manually wound Valjoux 727 movement.
These references were produced throughout the 1970s and into the early 1980s, becoming famous for their association with motorsport and their stylish, rugged design. The 6263 and 6265 also featured the distinctive "pump pushers," which distinguished them from other Daytona models.
The 6263 and 6265 remained in production until the early 1980s when they were replaced by the reference 16520, which introduced the automatic movement. The Daytona 6263 and 6265 remain a symbol of precision and performance, revered for its design and its historical connection to racing and Rolex's evolution as a brand.
