Offered for sale is a Rolex ‘Red’ Submariner Ref. 1680 with MK VI dial from 1974.
The MK 6 dial, which is the last batch of the ‘Red’ Submariner line, remains in flawless condition. It shows very light wear and features a lovely creamy patina hue. The original hands have aged to a perfectly matching tone.
The case shows previous signs of polishing but remains very thick, with the original chamfers and factory finishes still present. It shows normal wear. The case back remains in the same condition. The original and period correct super fat font MK 3 ‘Kissing 40’ insert remains in great condition, presenting no mayor dents or marks, and featuring a deep petrol blue hue, especially when exposed to sunlight.
The original acrylic crystal has some minor scratches that could be easily buffed away.
It comes suited its original Rolex Oyster 9315 folded-links stainless steel bracelet with 380 end links, and PATETED divers’ extension. It shows normal stretch and wear.
It is running great and keeping time. However, the only known service is the one from 2002 described on the Rolex Service Papers from Rolex Spain that is included with the watch, along with its original box.
Macros of dial and case are available under request, as well as movement and inner case back pictures.
